Why Buy Direct?

When you purchase a book from an author on most well known platforms, the company keeps up to 30-60% of the sale, often leaving the author with less than 30% of the profit (after the company deducts delivery fees, taxes, and other fees). Buying directly from an author or creator means that more of the list price goes to the creator. In addition, some of the big name stores require exclusivity, have very subjective rules and regulations, and at times treat authors unfairly without justification or explanation. Buying direct from the creator helps ensure that the creator is not subject, for example, to unexplained account closures, withholding of royalties, censorship, and other issues that can affect an author’s livelihood. By buying direct, you help put control of our art back in the hands of the creator.
